Mr. Handsome and I celebrated Valentine’s Day two days early this year. He is on a basketball league, and someone accidentally scheduled a game on February 14th (probably a single male). Mr. Handsome offered to skip, but I told him not to. The team is small, so if he didn’t show up, chances are good they would have to forfeit.
Rather than take me out to dinner, Mr. Handsome decided he would prepare something at home, which was very thoughtful. I don’t have a favorite food, so it wasn’t easy for him to figure out what to make, but he ended up cooking a delicious meal.
We stopped at Walmart on Saturday night to pick up a Redbox movie, and he ran in to pick up ingredients. When Sunday evening rolled around, I stayed upstairs while he cooked. Towards the end, I could tell by the smell that he was whipping up some sort of pasta dish.
It ended up being spaghetti with a homemade meat sauce that he made without a recipe (the tastiest I’ve ever had) and homemade garlic bread that was toasted to perfection. He also bought flowers, wrote a card, and pained this beautiful flamingo (the perfect choice because I love birds).
How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?

I have a dentist appointment, how's that for romantic?!

I do to :/

so romantic lol

For some people it could be! I know someone who married their Catholic dentist.

Why would what religion the dentist was make any difference? Wondering why you mentioned it.
Anonymous
Because she was Catholic too. Sorry.

Seems like you and Mr Handsome had a very nice celebration. I like the Flammingo painting he did for you. My Husband and I went to a marriage Conference over the weekend at our church which we considered our big Valentine's day celebration. Tomorrow we will be having a nice dinner at home and watching a romantic Hallmark movie on TV.

Thank you, Shela. A marriage conference sounds like a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day. And I do love Hallmark movies! Which one did you watch?

We watched Love Locks. It was great We both really enjoyed it.

How fun! My husband and I usually give our daughters Valentine candy and we give each other cards and candy. This year is a little different since my husband is recovering from a heart attack he had three weeks ago. This year we are each getting a coffee filled with each member's favorite candy. We are just thanking the Lord Tim survived his attack.

I hope everything goes great with your husbands health!

I am very glad he survived as well. My father had heart surgery a few years ago and thankfully did very well with that.

Praying your husband's recovery continues to go well and that your family has many more years to share the love you have for one another. Best wishes.
Regina
Thank you everyone!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Regina! I will be praying for your husband and your family.

My husband and I don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day with cards or gifts for ourselves. However, I homeschool our daughter, and we usually have a Valentine's Day party for her that we all enjoy. We celebrate on the weekend closest to Valentine's Day so her dad will be off work and can attend the party too.
[email protected]
That sounds fun. I did homeschooling for my last 2 years of high school and really enjoyed it. What grade is your daughter in?
Ellie

She is in the second grade.

I always get my son a Valentine even though he is a father himself now (a young one). I usually get him a giftcard or his choc peanut butter cups too. He almost was a Valentine baby as I went to hospital right after supper on Valentines day! But two hours after midnight he was born. He will always be my greatest Valentine in my life!

That's a wonderful Valentine! What a great memory to recall every year on Valentine's Day.

We don't really do anything for Valentine's Day as we prefer to treat ourselves when we feel like it :-). I have been amused though with the volume of cards and small packages that have arrived for our toddler daughter. She's made out pretty well this year.

Lol! I know a few people who go all out for Valentine's Day, sending gifts and cards to loved ones. My brother-in-law and his new wife got a huge gift package from her mother. Always interesting to see how people celebrate the holiday differently.
Hope your daughter enjoyed opening all her gifts!

What movie did you watch?
[email protected]
We watched the movie on Saturday night with some family. It was the guys' turn to choose a movie, so they chose The Magnificent Seven. A little too much violence for me but it was funny.

What did you do, stop everything and hold up dinner so you could take a picture for your blog? In the middle of the Valentine's Day celebration your husband worked so hard on? BTW, what was your contribution or gift to him? This looks like it's all Mr. H's doing.
Anonymous
I usually take a picture of all the nice meals people serve me. It doesn't take longer than a few seconds and people really are not very aware of what I am doing on my screen. Now I think if I give something to someone I should make a foto of that too. Then I can create a receive give balance sheet just in case I am deeply indebted to a generous giver, which I think I am! Thanks again to the astute commenters! Iread on this blog

To the person who said " what did you do….." you are very rude. You also should not assume that Ellie did not give a gift. I would not be surprised if Ellie just chooses to not even answer your rudeness!

I took a quick picture of the table for our memory book. I got him a Tim Hawkins comedy DVD and wrote him a long note on a valentine. 🙂

Hi Ellie:
I love the flamingo painting! It is beautiful! My husband made me a card for Valentines with pics from 2 new flower beds we made last year. Gardening is one of my favourite things to do and I had no idea he had taken these pictures. It was a really nice surprise in the middle of winter here. Ellie do you get tired of all the negativity and critical comments people have of the Duggar family? I find it really a drain on energy to read them. So negative and destructive. I am s hocked what people think is ok to say.

I'm with you! So sad….
