Last weekend, my mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and I threw a bridal shower for the soon-to-be wife of Mr. Handsome’s youngest brother, Joseph. I led the guests in a game of Purse Raid, which was a blast. It’s perfect for wedding showers, baby showers, or any other type of female get-together. Here’s how you play:
Have guests take a seat holding their purses. As the host calls out each item on the list, the first lady to hold up that item receives the number of points allotted. Have guests keep track of their points, and hand out prizes to the first, second, and third place winners. (For prizes, I purchased three specialty Hershey’s bars (symphony bar, cookies and cream bar, and special dark with almonds).

How many points did the winners have?
[email protected]
The first time I played this game, it was a lot more competitive, but this time, the ladies had much smaller purses. The two winners were my grandmother-in-law and my sister-in-law. They had about 150 points between the two of them.

How many points did you get?

I was the caller, so I didn't play, but I do have many of those items in my purse. 🙂

That is such a cool idea!! I love it!!
Have you got any word on if Erin will make a hair tutorial besides the one of her curls? I absolutely love her style!
Blessings!!!

Hi Alissa,
We told her a few months ago that our readers would like some more tutorials, so she did some makeup videos. But she hasn't done any other hair videos. As a mom of two young children, it might be a while before she gets around to making more, but she is aware that people want them. 🙂

If I've calculated correctly, I would have racked up 218 points! I have most of those things with me at all times, and could have whipped them out pronto. My husband calls it my "Swiss Army Survival Purse." So send the chocolate, if my score qualifies! 😉
P.S. – You forgot flashlight, tweezers, scissors, pocket knife, rubber band, paper clip, safety pin, eyeglass fixing screwdriver set, Scotch tape, St. Christopher medal, and grocery list, all of which I know I have in my purse right now, too…. What fun!

Wow! If you had been at the shower, you would have won for sure! How big is your purse? And what's a St. Christopher medal?

This is not the original poster….. but St. Christopher is the patron saint of traveling, so I think that's probably why she keeps the medal in her purse. So a St. Christopher medal is a small medal(probably on a chain) with an image of St. Christopher on it to honor him and ask him to intercede with God and allow us to have safe travels. 😉

It should be mentioned that st. stands for Saint.

Very interesting. Thanks for enlightening me. 🙂

Cute but you might have to provide sheets for the over fifty women in the crowd, because they will worry that they somehow left some important item behind when they participated in this game.

That's a good point. Didn't think of that. 🙂

Very fun game!! I am sure the ladies at the shower enjoyed playing it. I have played similar games and had a great time.

They did enjoy it! 🙂

Did someone actually have a curling iron in her purse? hahaha! It is not a common thing to carry around!

My oldest sister-in-law has a butane-powered portable curling iron that she keeps in her purse. But I would agree that it's definitely not a common thing to carry around! LOL
