Earlier this month, we shared the news that our baby is a boy. To tell our families, we did a gender reveal party. Mr. Handsome actually came up with the idea and the theme, which was both shocking and very sweet. His sister helped with the decorations, and we pulled it all together in just a few days. It was a small group, with just family, but we had a great time.
Mr. Handsome initially wanted to buy one of those pink or blue exploding tannerite targets that you see at outdoor stores, but I told him that Little Buddy wouldn’t like the noise. So he came up with the idea of using his bow to shoot an arrow at a balloon filled with blue powder. Our theme was “buck or doe.”

Somehow I cannot connect the news of the coming of a baby with shooting a bow and arrow and talking about buck and doe. We all know what is really done with arrows and deer. This is the message you wanted to give, that you shoot living things (or balloons)?

It’s not a sin to kill animals. My family enjoy eating venison, also chicken, pork, beef and fish.

The first commandment is “thou shall not kill.” I’m pretty sure that refers to all living beings.
Anonymous
It doesn’t.
Marie
I’m pretty sure it does not.God made humans with eternal souls that will live forever and animals won’t. In Genesis, God told Adam he has dominion over all animals. If you truly believe that commandment means more than humans, read Genesis 9:1-3.We should be kind to our animals and take care of them, but ultimately, they are just that, animals, and not on the same level as humans.

What a neat idea.

Such a cute idea. My husband would love this since he loves to go deer hunting.

Cool. Such cute cupcakes

Since your theme was ‘Buck or Doe,’ you could use the nickname”Little Buck” for this baby.
Ellie
That’s a cute idea!
Diana
What an adorable theme!

Very cute idea! Glad you were able to share this special moment with family. 😊💙. After 3 boys ( known). We decided to keep the last one a surprise. He/She was going to be the last child/grandchild for both sides of the family. It was a boy💙💙💙💙!
Ellie
How fun to have 4 boys! I bet they are good friends.
Jennifer
They are! My 2 oldest share an apartment and have great jobs.
My 21 year old is away at college, but he talks or texts his brother (16) every day. They always make brother time❤️. I am very blessed.
Ellie
That’s so sweet!
JEM
This is very encouraging to me as the mother of 4 young boys! ☺️

Are you and / or Mr Handsome gun enthusiasts? In England, I don’t know anyone who has a gun but I have observed that America is very different.
Ellie
Nope we aren’t gun enthusiasts. He really enjoys his compound bow though. Spends a lot of time doing target practice because it’s a lot of fun. 🙂

That makes me very happy! I am deeply confused by American gun culture…

I’m American and I despise guns. I’ve attended anti-gun rallies in the past and have written to my representatives about gun control multiple times. Down with the NRA and 2nd Amendment!
Eileen
This sounds like a fun time. Congrats again!
Bess
Typical…if there ain’t no guns it ain’t no party…sad really.
Ellie
Hmm, I’m confused. There were no guns at this party, and the reveal involved a target being shot with a bow.

That is a cute idea. My husband enjoys deer hunting and if we would have had a gender reveal, that might have worked at our house. We were surprised twice – we never found out for either one of our kids.
