Our Bible study friends make the most delicious treats! Last week, one of them brought a big bowl of cinnamon-sugar popcorn that was so wonderful I just had to ask how she made it.
The recipe is incredibly simple. In fact, it’s too short to even be called a recipe. Just make a bowl of popcorn–click here for my healthy “microwave” popcorn tutorial–and drizzle on as much melted butter as your heart desires. (I use a mixture of melted butter and melted coconut oil.)
Immediately after adding the butter, sprinkle the following three ingredients onto the popcorn:
Cinnamon
Powdered sugar
Dehydrated cane sugar (like Sucanat or Rapadura)
How much you add is entirely based on personal preference. Be sure to stir the popcorn to make sure that each piece is coated well.
Shout-out to my friend who made this recipe for our group. Mr. Handsome and I sure do appreciate all your tasty treats!

How is the spider hunt going?
[email protected]
We put out a bunch of sticky traps and have caught about 10 so far. Over the weekend, we vacuumed under all the furniture, so hopefully that helped flush them out. Thanks for asking. 🙂

Ten generic spiders, or ten brown recluse spiders? Bracing for the answer……
[email protected]
Sadly, they were all brown recluses…

YIKES!!! What were they doing, having a convention?? Is this normal, where there's one there's tons? Ewww ewww ewww
[email protected]
LOL. Based on the articles my husband read online, it sounds like finding one often means that there are more. I've heard of people finding several hundred in their home!
Fortunately for some people, these types of spiders are only "established" in 15 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas, according to an article from PennState).

Maybe we need to build a wall around those states, or the other states. Keep in/out the spiders. Know anyone we can get on that task?

Since you found more will the exterminator spray at all? Or is sticky tape the only option…the thought makes my skin crawl! I feel for you guys!
[email protected]
LOL, I'm not sure a wall would keep spiders out. 🙂
The exterminator said he would spray, but apparently the spray doesn't kill them. It only forces them out into the open. 🙁
Thanks for your sympathy. 🙂 I try to keep the traps somewhat hidden so I don't have to think about spiders every time I see them. Haha.

Not sure if it's a thing in the States, but here in Western Canada we have "kettle" popcorn! Equal parts sugar and salt popcorn. It's definitely an "occasional" treat. You know what they say, eat healthy 80% of the time, and the other 20%, go for it.

Yep, we have kettle corn, and I agree; it's delicious!

We have brown recluses in Florida too, but have only ever seen one. It was on my toddler (it didn't live long) and I actually didn't know till after killing it, that it was a recluse! I think the most creepy thing about the recluse spider is, it looks like a very harmless spider and isn't very big (the size of a quarter), but they can be deadly!

Just wanted to mention if you haven't heard of it,..Nutiva (and maybe other brands) makes butter flavored coconut oil now that is really good on popcorn. One of our kids prefers it over butter!
I'm going to go make this recipe for them – thanks for sharing 🙂

Butter flavored coconut oil sounds tasty! What store do you buy it from?
Ellie
Jemma
I got it from our local food co-op, but you can find it online through natural food markets. Here's a link: https://store.nutiva.com/buttery-coconut-oil
Btw- your cinnamon popcorn recipe was very yummy! We'll make that again:).

Thanks, Jemma! I'm going to check that out. Glad to hear y'all enjoyed the recipe! 🙂

Really? Typically the comments section goes off topic in a blog….breathe, relax, repeat. 🙂

Oh my stars!!! I would HAVE to move!! I've got chills just reading that
[email protected]
Haha, I thought about that but decided that the stress of moving wouldn't be worth it. I just keep reminding myself that it's a rental house and we won't be here forever.

Sounds good! I also enjoy the butter and coconut oil mixture. I like to add chili powder to popcorn too. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

How much butter, coconut oil, and seasonings did you put for you popcorn, Ellie?
Thnx!
[email protected]
For a large bowl of popcorn, I use about 1/4 cup melted butter/coconut oil and 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of salt. For the other seasonings, I add a little, taste, add some more, taste again. 🙂
