It’s hard to believe that June is already coming to a close! For those who live in the United States or Canada, what are your plans for 4th of July/Canada Day?If you live in the U.S. and are planning or attending a party, you’re probably looking for some patriotic red, white, and blue desserts and refreshments. If you’re in Canada, you’re searching for red and white.
I have the perfect recipe! In fact, it’s so easy, you can’t really call it a recipe. These fruity ice cubes will add a festive flair to even the most plain-looking drinks. To make the ice cubes, feel free to use any clear drink. Perrier/sparkling water, Sprite, Ginger Ale, and 7Up are some of my favorites.

Hi Ellie, I am making some things ahead of the long weekend here in Canada. We always have lots of family over as our children are grown with kids of their own. It is a fun celebration weekend to the beginning of the summer months off for the grandchildren. I have made your blueberry cobbler today and it turned out perfectly. The house smells great! I want to try your pasta salad as well as it would be nice to make a pasta salad without the use of a mayo product. I am going to try your different ice cubes as well. We drink a lot of water and the fruit ice cubes will be a nice addition. Thanks!! Have a wonderful weekend. Eileen

I'm glad to hear that, Eileen! Sounds like a wonderful celebration! Will you be watching fireworks?

Yes we will. The neighbourhood, area we live in has a firworks display at New Years and Canada. It is all family centred celebrations and lots of fun and very exciting for the grandchildren who stay up late to see them. It is not dark here until about 11 at night. Eileen

I don't watch fireworks never did as a kid either. The noise bothers me. It hurts my ears. People use to do fireworks in my neighborhood but they don''t anymore because they were arrested for doing fireworks.
My cat does like the noise either.

Fireworks are illegal here, but that doesn't seem to stop people. I've already heard some, and it isn't the 4th yet. The noise scares my cat, too, and nothing I do seems to calm him until the noise stops. Some people are very inconsiderate of others and the law!

I LOVE watching fireworks, especially the big ka-booms that really light up the sky!! My grown son and his family and I go all out on the 4th. We have a big picnic and hang out for the day and then at night we go right outside town and light off all our "ka-booms" !! Love it! That is what celebrating our freedom is all about! America the beautiful, land of the free, home of the brave!
