What’s better than going out for pizza on a Friday night? How about staying home for pizza on a Friday night! Preheat the oven, grab your favorite toppings, and prepare your taste buds for this simple, mouth-watering treat.
Easy Homemade Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2-1/2 cups flour
Directions
- Make sure oven racks are in the lowest positions possible. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
- Combine yeast and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add warm water, and stir until yeast and sugar dissolve. Stir in oil, salt, and 2-1/2 cups flour.
- When the dough becomes too stiff to stir, flour your hands and a work surface. Knead for 8-10 minutes, adding a little flour to keep dough from sticking. When done kneading, the dough should feel smooth and no longer sticky.
- Dust ball of dough with flour, and return to mixing bowl. Cover with a towel, and let dough rise for no longer than 30 minutes. (The beauty of this recipe is that you don’t have to let the dough rise at all, but it is easier to use if you do.)
- Grease a standard-sized cookie sheet, and dust with cornmeal. Use your hands or a rolling pin to spread dough over the entire pan.
- If you want your pizza to look extra fancy, pinch a raised rim around the edges.
- Decorate with sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and crust is lightly browned.
- Enjoy!

If you can ever get your hands on a pizza stone to use in your oven, grab it! It is so amazing and definitely gives you pizzeria type crust.

That's a great idea! I have a "Bed Bath and Beyond" gift card left from our wedding, so I think I'll go ahead and purchase one. We make homemade pizza every couple weeks.

Debra
The pizza stone should be an excellent choice
Ellie
Hi Debra,
I ended up buying one back in 2015 and have used it for pizza ever since. It’s wonderful! We also bought one for our grill to make a sort of brick oven pizza. Delicious.

Hi Ellie. U mentioned before that u were homeschooled what curiculum were u homeschooled in? And what curriculum will u homeschool ur future children in?
[email protected]
Hi,
I used a combination, including "Teaching Textbooks," "Apologia," and "Rosetta Stone." I'll have to look back at my coursework from high school and write a post about it. I'm not sure what we will use for our future children, but I really enjoyed the three curriculums that I mentioned.
Blessings,

I think u should make a blog post talking about God and asking if anyone needs help or has questions about coming to the Lord and becoming a Christian and u and other people like me can help them.

That's a wonderful idea! Thank you!

What's ur fav Christian song?

Hi there,
That's a good question! I'd have to say "Come Thou Fount." I have always loved the poetic lyrics, and my husband played it on guitar as I walked down the aisle at our wedding,

I do listen to some modern worship songs while driving, but I also love hymns and Southern Gospel.
In addition to blogging, I am in the beginning stages of writing a book that tells my grandmother's WWII story. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Ellie! what do you like to do on the weekends? whats is your favorite resturant?
[email protected]
Hi there!
The weather has been warm, so we have spent a lot of time hiking and biking. My husband loves eating out, so we try to go on a date night every week or so. We both really enjoy Texas Roadhouse, but I think my favorite is Chick-fil-a.

Is it better if you are bake the crust five minutes before putting on the sauce and then baking it all?
You know, so the crust and sauce don’t be an undercooked doughy area.
Ellie
I’ve never had any issues with the dough being undercooked. 🙂
