Now that it’s officially fall, it’s the perfect time to share my sister-in-law’s autumn decorations. Anne is incredibly creative and has a knack for making Pinterest ideas come to life.I have previously shared her decoration for my bridal shower, Valentine’s Day, her son’s gender reveal party, and her daughter’s second birthday party. She texted me these pictures of her autumn decor earlier this week, and I knew you all would enjoy them.
Do you decorate the house for fall? Putting pumpkin spice wax squares in my candle warmer is about as far as I go, but I do enjoy looking at autumn decor.

Too kitschy for my own taste, but I love fall!

No, I don't decorate my home differently because of the seasons. I find most store-bought or homemade decorations to be too artsy-craftsy, artificial, or contrived. I don't want that stuff in my house – it never looks like it belongs, and it brings me no pleasure. Scents in candles or sprays bother my lungs. Don't mean to come across as critical, just practical. I like things in my house how they are, not changing every 4 months because the calendar says so. I can look out the window and see that well enough, and it can stay out there, where it happens by nature's hand.

I don't decorate for the changing seasons either. Everyone has their own ideas. 🙂

I don't change my decor either, but I do like looking at other people's decorations. I love candles, but don't burn them very much at all because loud scents bother my sinuses and give me headaches since I have gotten older. Ugh.

I love to decorate for fall yes! She has much prettier decorations than I do but yes Autumn is a wonderful time of year. The cool air, crisp colorful leaves, scent of apples and apple crisp. Pumpkins everywhere. MMMMMMM.

I don't decorate my house for any season. I put decoration for Halloween and Christmas, that's all. But I change the way I cook. When fall begins, I cook more warm, comforting food. Apple pies, stews, things like that. I don't use candle warmer, I cook to have a nice smell in my house 🙂

That must be lovely for everyone who walks in your house!

Not a fan of orange, brown, gold, and avocado green. I lived thru the 70's. I don't want those colors in my house ever again! Ugh, they give me flashbacks to that crazy era. LOL

LOL, I totally understand that!

Love that your sister in law embraces and welcomes each new season with decorations. Reminds me to enjoy them all because soon enough the season will change.

I love that, too. And I feel the same way. 🙂

It is a good idea your sister in law has! As Christians we are faced with the discipline of not celebrating the pagan holidays, which is a discipline that not all of us acknowledge or do. Say Halloween, lots of us love it because all things fall have been identified with the day. Your sister in law is exercising her freedom love all things fall just because they are wonderful, worthy and something to celebrate and praise the Lord for! She does not have to be led by what the world is doing! She is a leader in doing the right thing for her family! If people bget the satisfying bread from following our good Lord Jesus they don't need to look at the world to satisfy their hearts. I was in a dilemma over this and seeing what you post said really clicked in me, you have shown this thing to do to have all the fall fun and leave out uncelebratable stuff. Thank you.

Love your sister-in -laws decorations. I don't decorate either I only but Halloween stuff up on my windows and put my ghost and cat lawn decorations out and my beanie baby pumpkin that I have. I also put my Halloween cat placements on the table.

Ellie do you hand out candy to the trick or trickers?

We weren't home last year, and we haven't decided what we will do this year. We'll have to talk about it.

I don't understand why you post photos of other people's home and party decor, especially if you haven't even seen it in person or didn't attend the party. Does anyone else find this strange or just me? Don't you have enough interesting things in your own life to blog about? Maybe Anne should have her own blog.

Ellie, here is an idea for your blog…take a picture of your medicine cabinet. I would lie to know what do you keep on hand to treat the wounds from all the cutting comments?

If this is hard to understand then how come magazines of things like decorating tips sell so many copies? Martha Stewart knew it would make good reading.

I think it's cool when she posts about her own home, recipes, and stuff. The fall decorations would be more understandable if she was comparing them to her own decorations, but she doesn't decorate for fall. Just posts like "here's pictures of something that I didn't contribute to and haven't seen in person" is something I've never seen on other blogs. People tend to blog about their own experiences. I mean, I wouldn't like recipe posts if the person posting it had never made the recipe, because I want to know their experience with it, don't you?

It is her blog not yours. She can post anything she wants. There are a lot of blogs that post ideas and pictures that the person themselves didn't create… houzz, Better Homes and Gardens, etc. Seeing how other people decorate is fun. Ellie enjoys seeing her sister-in-law's decorations and sharing them. I love all the fall decorations even though I don't decorate myself.

I would rather celebrate fall for falls sake than celebrate fall for Halloween's sake. Often Christians are advised to not participate in Halloween, but candy to cute costumed children is what the fun is. Yet look at all the great harvest foods and the purity of fall, your sister in law is right to get eyes and hearts onto all the goodness if fall.

Some are cute costumed but take a look at all the costumes out there. The nature or farm and garden stuff is all good, but the costumes can be varied on a spectrum. To stay away from evil avoid opening the door when these creatures show up looking for the candy.

Do you seriously think that a closed wooden door is what keeps away evil in this world?

I put up a tree at Christmas, but other than that I don't decorate for the different seasons. However, I do have a few seasonal dishtowels that I use sometimes. Changing scents, seasonally, in the scentsy warmer is something we enjoy as a family.

I'm Christian and I still celebrate Halloween. I don't care what the Christian church saids.

Our church had a haunted house one year when they bought a house next to church property but hadn't fixed it up yet. They let the church teens "trash" it into a haunted house. Quite popular with the kids @ church. How's that for Christian church-sanctioned Paganism?!

For the holidays coming up, I have a great idea, and I am going to do it also, My Mother had a seasonal wreath, it used to be on the front of the door, all year around, my Mother just used to change the wreath every time the season changed, like every Easter, she'd put up little bunnies, eggs, in Christmas, holy, religious items, and even at Halloween, the wreath was changed!!!! All the neighbors loved IT!!!!!!!
[email protected]
That's a unique idea, Justine! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Fall is my favorite season, so I enjoy decorating inside and outside. I lived in Arizona for many years, so I especially wanted to enjoy the season that I missed having.
