My in-laws have a Jacuzzi tub. It’s glorious. Sometimes when we’re over there, I sneak into their master bedroom and have a relaxing soak.
During one particular visit, I happened to be home alone for a couple hours. Not sure how that happens in such a large family, but somehow it did. Anyways, I decided to take a bubble bath, so I looked up a homemade bubble bath recipe online.
The bubbles weren’t huge, but they did the job. Here’s the recipe I used:
Homemade Bubble Bath
1/4 cup liquid Castile soap
1 egg
Several drops lavender essential oil (if Castile soap is unscented)
I was in a rush, so I didn’t mix the ingredients together ahead of time. That was a huge mistake, as the hot water cooked the egg! You will definitely want to mix everything together before pouring it into the bath. It works best if you pour the solution right under the water spout while the bath is still filling.
Do you enjoy bubble baths? Have you ever made your own bubble bath soap? I have seen several different recipes online. Some contain honey, while others call for vegetable glycerin. I’ll have to try another variation next time I’m at my in-laws’ house. 🙂

Hi Ellie,
I was wondering if you could write a post about your brother? I feel that I've gotten to know your husbband's family, and I would love to know more about yours. xThanksx

That's a really good idea. My husband's family lives closer, so we see them more often, but I'll write something about my family. 🙂

I love a good long soak in the tub. I have never made my own bubble bath. It may something I need to try.

I purchase goat milk soap from Bend Soap Company (bendsoap.com). Their milk bath is amazing! I also use their lip butter, lotion, and soap. I even make my own laundry detergent using their shredded soap!

Goat milk soap, how interesting! A friend gave us some custard made with goat milk the other day, and it was really tasty. Lol

Baths are the best. I've never made homemade bubble bath, but you've got me wanting to try it out! I'll be sure to mix the ingredients beforehand if I do, though 🙂

Kind of creepy that you sneak into your in-laws bathroom to take baths while they are away.

I agree with you 100%.

Well it's not really sneaking because they are totally fine with it. 🙂 The only reason you have to sneak is because some of the other siblings enjoy taking baths too, so it isn't always available. Lol.

Ellie, you are so gracious!

I'm laughing so hard! Cooked egg in the bath! That must kill the mood!Haha! 🙂

Haha I know! I really should have seen it coming too. It's like when you're making homemade pudding, you have to make sure the egg doesn't cook when it mixes with the hot chocolate mixture. 🙂

Don't you have to be careful of what you put in a tub that has those jet nozzles? I can't imagine eggs, solid or liquid, would be good for them. I didn't think lots of soap was, either.

There actually wasn't enough hot water to fill a bath up past the Jacuzzi jets, so it wasn't an issue. 🙂

Bath in egg -YUCK!

I think you could have just used the Castile soap as a bubble bath. Adding egg to it sounds kind of nasty to me.

I read that the egg helps the bubbles last longer, but you're right, using only Castile soap would create the bubbles just as well. 🙂

A squirt of baby shampoo works in a pinch too, and is gentle on the skin.

I heard that taking baths waste up more water then taking a shower.
Aleast you can take a bath my bath tub is too small to get in.

Lol, your egg saga is pretty funny 🙂 sounds like a lovely hot bath if it managed to cook the egg!

Most people’s water has enough “hardness” in it that castile soap (or any real-soap soap) can’t be used as a practicable bubble bath.
