Mr. H Jr. is just over two months old, and it has been fun to see his personality start to come out. Watching his expressions and mannerisms has made me more curious about what Mr. Handsome was like as a child. If I had a time machine, I would thoroughly enjoy traveling back about 22 years and catching a glimpse of him as a kid. His parents say that he was adventurous and fun-loving and a really sweet older brother, which doesn’t surprise me because I see all those traits in him today.
But since time travel hasn’t been invented yet, stories must suffice. It’s funny to hear him talk about the things he remembers. He claims that he has a bad memory, so the events he can recall must have had a big impact. Speaking of stories of Mr. Handsome’s childhood, we have some to share. They have to do with his childhood dream of becoming an entomologist. Check out our video blog below.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Jessica
As a child, I wanted to be an actress, writer, and artist. As a teenager I wanted to be a missionary. But God’s ways are higher than our ways. I may not be a missionary but I am daily pointing my children to Christ, and that’s what missionaries do. They pour their lives into others for the cause of Christ. They sacrifice so much and I admire their selflessness. My husband is a youth pastor so sharing the love of Christ with children is definitely a needed ministry.
I think this statement is true, “You are either a mission or a missionary.” (I don’t remember who said it, and I might have misquoted it.)

And you are furthering the cause of Christ by supporting your husband in his endeavors. That is true of Christian wives no matter what their husband’s career is. Being a youth pastor is such a taxing job, but the two of you are likely making a greater impact in those kids’ lives than you will ever know. I had two incredible youth pastors growing up. They made a huge impact on my life, as did their wives. Keep fighting the good fight!

Mr Handsome knows how to play with his audiences heart strings. He has me feeling pretty sad for that enthusiastic little boy who was probably often just patronized by his own mom and brushed off by her friends. Surely Ellie is going to be a genuine supporter of her boys hobbies, because she is already trying to develope an interest. I find Ellie to be a real true inspiration!

I always wanted to be a wife and mother. I did however teach preschool until I became a mother and now I’m a keeper at home and I love it!

I loved amphibians as a kid. I would spend hours looking for tadpoles and frogs. I also really liked all animals and I knew for sure I wanted to be a veterinarian. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford vet school and just ended with a degree in biology instead.

I always wanted to be a nurse but that didn’t happen .

I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I went to a state college, got a degree, and became a teacher. It takes a lot of my time and energy, but it’s a big deal to follow through to complete a goal. Could you ask your husband if you could reveal his real name? It’s time to stop calling him MrH on the blog. Also time to redo the header with a new picture of the three of you (son included!)
