Ain’t no to-do list like a nesting mama’s to-do list. At least that has been my experience. In general, I am a very list oriented person, so it surprises no one that this kicks into high gear when I am pregnant. Writing everything out that I need to accomplish is the best way for me to stay organized. I don’t get stressed out about accomplishing my list immediately, but having it all written down helps me determine what tasks are most important and need to be tackled first.
With a baby due in a couple months, my to-do list has been very extensive. I’m hoping to deep clean the house, but that’s not even the biggest part of my list. Most of what I’m trying to do is to look ahead at what needs to be done this spring and accomplish those things now, so I’m not stressing myself out with a new baby. Things like gathering tax information, organizing spring and summer clothes for the kids and making sure they have the right sizes, and taking care of essential outside work all take a lot of time. Not to mention organizing baby items, thrift shopping for girl clothes, and finding space for it all in our very tiny closets.
I also have an extensive honey-do list for Mr. Handsome, who is very good about helping me accomplish tasks but is also run off his feet at work and likes to spend most of his at-home time playing with our two boys (as he should).
While there are times that my to-do list stresses me out, it has also been a very helpful tool at this point in my pregnancy. Instead of sitting and overthinking the labor and delivery process, it helps to keep my mind and hands busy.
So with all of that in mind, I apologize for the lack of posts over the past month. Although I will say that my to-do list has been a bit stalled since Thanksgiving. As I shared, I caught a terrible sickness, and the cough is still lingering four weeks later, so most of my energy has been spent taking care of my kids, continuing to work on reading lessons with Little Buddy (who is excited that he will soon finish his 120-lesson Kindergarten reading curriculum and receive a big treat) and keeping up with essential tasks around the house.
Are you a list-oriented person like me, or do you do things differently? And have you ever experienced the intensity of pregnancy nesting mode?

Do yourself a favor and give yourself a present – hire someone to deep clean. My gosh, you know you can afford it this once. It will all get done in a day (or two). You can also hire a professional organizer to help you get the clothes and closets ready. Don’t try to be Superwoman, let alone Pregnant Superwoman.

That’s a great idea!

Sounds a lot like me, Ellie 🙋🏼♀️
Right down to the lingering cough weeks after being sick! Although, unfortunately, I caught another sickness that I’m now recovering from and while due in 7 -ish weeks!
If I don’t write everything down I’m up at 5 in the morning stressing out. And even if I don’t accomplish it right away as well, it just feels good to have it allllll written out.
At this point I’m just trying to get through Christmas then I can also start focusing on all the things babies. There are so many purchases we really need to make that I’ve been stalling at 🤦🏼♀️
But of course in my nesting I make sure we have a million paper plates, towels, and toilet paper so we can be be nestled in 😆 I find I feel like I need to be stocked for months on probably the most frivolous things when I’m nesting 🤪 are you like this too?!
Ellie
I’m so sorry, Jennifer! How rough that you caught another sickness. Were both flu-like illnesses?
Yes, I definitely like to stock up before babies arrive. Paper plates are a great idea for those weeks after, when you just don’t have time to do dishes. How is your pregnancy going otherwise?

It takes too much time to load and unload a dishwasher? I can usually knock that out while there are commercials on TV. I can even do it one-handed with a baby on a hip.
JenniferH
Yes, in fact both illnesses were flu-like! It was so crazy! I know they say your immune system is seeker when you are pregnant but I’ve never been this consistently sick before 😱
I am just hoping we’re done for a while now!!
My pregnancy is going very well so far- surprisingly, given how I’ve felt lol. But everything with the babies seems to be on pace. I’m hoping to go a little early but I never have so we will see!
Ellie
I pray this will be your last sickness for a long time! So glad to hear the pregnancy is going well though. I know what you mean; when I was SO sick over Thanksgiving, I thought surely I would go into labor or the baby would be in distress, but she did great. Will they induce labor at any point if it doesn’t happen naturally, or are they just going to wait and see?
JenniferH
I want to go naturally. At 37/38 weeks I’ll have my ultrasound though to determine position and if both are breach then unfortunately it will have to be a c section. My first was a c section and I hated the recovery so I’m really hoping for babies to cooperate. So far one is breach and one is almost completely head down but slightly transverse.
Ellie
I hope you are able to have the natural birth you want! Either way, I hope everything goes well. Life with newborn twins is going to be sweet and exciting. 🙂

Praying for your twin birth soon ! I Just had preemie twins in 2022 and due with baby number 6 in the next month or so .
I have had two csections , vbac and vbac twins so praying again this one is successful.
Baby a was head down and baby b breech and they did a breech extraction.
It’s definitely harder with twins but our first 2 1/2 months they were in the nicu so having to adjust to nicu , pumping and older kids was definitely hard .

I’m very list oriented as well! I don’t know if you use Microsoft One Note or other task apps but they are great! I like to say I spend a lot of time planning what I need to do. When I have time to do things I’m able to look at my list and quickly execute off my plan. Are you doing freezer meals too?
Ellie
I haven’t used Microsoft One Note. I’ll have to take a look! I’m hoping to have a handful of freezer meals, although Mr. Handsome promised to do a lot of cooking, so hoping we won’t need to use them too frequently.

I’m a list person!! Most are in my phone, but I have paper ones too. Need lists for my sanity lol. There’s so much to keep up with that my mind can’t handle alone, and lists allow me to relax and know the things will get done
