Mr. H Jr is almost three months old, so I thought I would share a quick baby update. Although he is still fussy in the late afternoons and evenings, he has been sleeping very well at night. He loves lying under his activity center, looking up at the hanging toys, and kicking the legs to make the music start. He often spits up after eating, so he wears a bib most of the time. To help with digestion and fussiness, we give him a small amount of all-natural, additive free gripe water most days, as well as a few drops of a natural infant probiotic. We were using infant gas drops for a few days, but we stopped using them after reading in multiple medical journals that the sodium benzoate that they contain may be linked to cancer and other diseases.
A friend gave us a set of awesome bibs for a shower gift, and even though they are meant for holidays (Valentine’s Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas), we wear them all the time because they are so absorbent. In the video below, Little Buddy is wearing his My First Halloween bib, which as a smiling pumpkin on it. It’s nowhere near October, and we don’t even celebrate Halloween, but Mama is too frugal not to use it. Hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks, ES!

Ohh, he is so super cute! Can hardly believe how fast time flies, 10 weeks already, wow! Glad to hear things are going well. Enjoy each stage, everyone tells you it goes so fast, which is hard to believe sometimes, but suddenly they are mostly grown up.
Blessings
Ellie
Thanks, Karen! Yes, time sure flies. Enjoying each stage is great advice.

So cute, just had my fourth a month before you, but my oldest was a boy too, and then 3 girls followed😄
Lori
So cute! I automatically said “Bless you” when he sneezed.
Ellie
LOL!
Benita
He’s such a pretty baby!
Ellie
Thank you, Benita!

That was so sweet. Little Buddy was who I watched during that video! Lol. He stared at the 3 toys on his chair almost the whole time you were talking. Love all the little sounds he makes. He looks like he is reaching out to the toys even if it is a bit haphazard right now. 🙂 Babies are so precious. It never ceases to amaze me how much they change in a year. He is already looking so much older and aware at almost 3 months. I just remember being in awe of each of our babies at what they learned to do and how they grew in their first year. It was all so new, exciting and wonderful. The first year is just the best but then so is every stage after that. As parents it is hard to keep up with each new stage. Children develop faster than we are ready for it. At least to me. I would just be enjoying and getting the rhythm of one stage and the kids were on to the next. It all goes so fast! Definitely enjoy where you are with your baby. He is precious. Eileen
Ellie
Thanks, Eileen. I know, he was staring intently at those toys, wasn’t he? LOL
Ann
Enjoy the update on baby. I have a little one close in age. She has silent acid reflux. Babies who have acid reflux spit up more then normal. Often it is due to an allergy or intolerance to cow’s milk. I breastfeed and have stopped eating & drinking dairy which has helped. They don’t like to be laid down flat either, so we use a crib wedge or baby wear. It’s been a hard few months. However she is worth it and we love her so much! My dog licks her leg. It’s cute.
Ellie
Sorry to hear that, Ann! Hope you’re able to get some cute pictures of the dog licking her leg. 🙂
Diana
Aww. So nice to see your growing son and hear his baby sounds. They change so much at this early stage. You blink and it’s gone. lol.
Alicia Mae
He’s such a cutie! It’s amazing how big they get in such a short period of time.

I enjoy watching Mr. H Jr. I watched a second time to see him sneeze again, Lol. He looked over at his mommy 3 times and loved looking at his toys. Thanks for the video… Jane
Ellie
Haha, I love his sneezes. Glad you enjoyed the video, Jane!

I used those infant gas drops and my kid never got cancer. It’s a bunch of people who made that up saying he will cause cancer. I even checked with my doctor he said it wasn’t true about cancer in infant gas drops. It’s a bunch of people from overseas that make things up.
Jessica
We have used natural gripe water with previous babies and it works great. Our son now is 7 weeks and he has not had to use it yet but his brothers did alot.
Each stage is fun in its own way. It’s fun seeing how the baby changes developmentally in short time periods. It’s also amazing seeing their little personality come out.
Your son is precious. I love his hair. My little guy is bald on top. 🙂
Ellie
Thanks, Jessica! I love his hair, too. LOL I’ll bet a bald baby is super cute, too! If you’re interested in the probiotic drops for your son, the brand is BioGaia. I’m not sure whether the gripe water or that works better, but something is definitely helping.

I loved this video. So down to earth and regular life! He’s darling 😍 I love love the newborn/first months stage. My 4th baby is 22 months old and I almost could handle another one already after hearing and seeing little Buddy! Almost… 😏
Ellie
Aww, I bet that’s a fun stage, too, now that your kids are adults and can be more like friends. 🙂

My baby is 480 months. It’s a real fun stage too.
Ellie
LOL!

You don’t believe in the added modesty panel for v-neck t-shirts the way your friends the Duggars do?

My second was a projectile spitter from month 2 -14. I used towels as burp cloths because normal burp cloths weren’t big or absorbent enough. I walked around constantly with a stack of small face cloths that I’d tuck into his bib (which he wore all the time) and replace constantly. It was so gross but I basically just got used to be covered in spit up all the time. Thank goodness we have no carpet in our house, so clean up was easy.
Ellie
Yikes! That sounds very rough.
darlene
glad to hear something is helping the little guys stomach. you feel so bad for them when they feel bad. went thru the same with my 2nd until they put him on soy formula. my 3rd got switched over to soy too but he was a bit older. by the 4th i automatically started with soy and she was fine. never going more then 36 weeks may be the reason i never produced much milk so i would express what i could and mix it with the soy formula for as long as i could. oh, and because my 3rd was older when we found out he was lactose intolerant, it was suggested to me to put a drop of karo syrup in his water bottle. dont know why that helped but it did until we found out the underlying cause. (he’ll be 26 in a couple of weeks, been in the army these past 8 years and still lactose intolerant. i pitied his battle buddies overseas who slept in the same barracks lol!)
Ellie
That would be difficult to be lactose intolerant in the army. Are all your kids still lactose intolerant, or did some outgrow it?
Ellie
darlene
yep, all still lactose intolerant. my boys are much worse then my daughter ever was. now she usually drinks almond milk or 2% milk. the boys (they’re men now), still have problems with 2% or whole milk but dont like skim so they actually still use it lol!
lol, and my son in the army, he could have been used as a weapon of mass destruction overseas just from putting creamer in his coffee!
Regina Shea
Ellie your little man is so cute! Thank you for sharing an update on how things are going. Isn’t motherhood awesome?
Ellie
Thank you, Regina! It sure is. 🙂

In my paper the other day they said that parents should give their kids peanut butter or other stuff with peanuts in it. before they turn 1 so the won’t get a peanut allergy.
Anonymous
Yeah, sadly that doesn’t work. A family friend tried that and two of their kids have peanut allergies.
Lauren
Studies do show that it can help reduce the risk of the development of a peanut allergy. My oldest has a peanut allergy, and we had to start introducing the major allergens (egg, peanut, milk, wheat) when he was 6 months old. He does have an egg allergy – which means he may eventually develop a peanut allergy- but he current is fine with peanut butter.

Ellie Are you going to finish telling us what day Mr.Handsome junior was born and why you sayes in the hospital longer.
Ellie
Yep! Working on that now.
Barb
Our daughter suffered miserably from colic. It made for a rough three months. Sounds like you are handling the tummy troubles very well.
The fussiness in late afternoon is probably the same for babies as it is for adults. Late afternoon is the end of the work day for adults. We are tired but it’s not bedtime yet so we get a bit cranky then too 😊. A doctor once told me that some of fussiness in babies is their way of making themselves tired. It’s their only way of expending energy at that age.
Your son is every bit as adorable as I thought he would be. And you and your husband are such good parents, as I knew you would be. Keep blogging.
Ellie
That does make sense. I’ve also heard that milk production is lower in the late afternoon/early evening, so sometimes babies don’t get as much food as they would like. But that wouldn’t explain fussiness for formula-fed babies. We’re glad to have you as a reader, Barb. 🙂

He is adorable
I cried when my first baby laughed for the first time- it was emotional to see her growing older and seeing how how precious that laugh was- and still is!
A bit off topic but I hve to know- please inform me on what is going on with when calls the heart- i am a bit devastated they took it off the air because of one actress- please tell me it’s coming back on- and with Lori Laughlin- it wouldn’t be the same without her
Ellie
Thank you! 🙂
Thankfully, When Calls the Heart has not been canceled, but Hallmark has dropped Lori Loughlin. I agree, it won’t be the same without her. If the accusations against her are true, it’s very disappointing that she had to make such a wrong choice.
Sarah
Oh my goodness he’s cute!!! And that little sneeze stole my heart. What a sweet blessing from heaven.
Ellie
Thank you, Sarah! 🙂
