While we were in Branson, Missouri, this summer, we visited the Butterfly Palace. The indoor rain forest is home to hundreds of tropical butterflies, and we had a blast watching them fly around. Little Buddy was thrilled when a few landed on him to drink the nectar he was holding. Have you ever been to a butterfly garden?

That would be a great place to visit.

Plant butterfly bushes (and other blooming bushes) and lots of flowers in your yard, and you’ll have a butterfly garden without having to leave home. That’s what I did. Hundreds of happy bees, moths, and butterflies daily, no admission price needed to see them.
Ellie
Thats a great idea!

Yes, we have been to a butterfly farm. We took our grandchildren. It was fun and also educational. The children were of course thrilled when butterflies landed on them. Very nice activity and the children learnt a lot about butterflies and all their stages.

Do they land on your skin? I don’t like insects on my skin it gives me the creeps.
Ellie

When we lived in Santa Barbara their was the butterfly grove we would visit occasionally and the Natural History Museum would have an event called Butterflies Alive where you walk through this pavilion filled with beautiful buterflies of various varieties. We always had to make sure there were no buttterflies on us or the children before we left the pavillion.

The Callaway Gardens property in Pine Mountain GA. is home to the Clarence B Day Butterfly Center. If you are anywhere near Columbus, GA and like butterflies, this would be worth your time. Check out their website.
Ellie
Thanks for sharing, Mary! I will keep that in mind. 🙂

Every year at Epcot during the flower and garden show a butterfly exhibit is set up. You walk through an sectioned off area and there are cocoons and butterflies all around you. Description signs are placed at various flowers to teach about both the flowers and types of butterflies you see. It’s very nice for both adults and children
Ellie
That sounds beautiful!

Did they tell you not to pick up the butterflies by their wings? Children might not understand how harmful this could be to the butterflies.
Ellie
Yep they did. I didn’t see any children try to touch them.
Ann
They have them at a zoo. It was fun to watch them. Land on your hand and annget the negar.

I have been to a butterfly garden years ago. It was neat to see all these butterflies from different parts of the country.
