Six years ago, I posted my interview with Josh Enck from Sight & Sound Theatres. This year, I finally made it to a Sight & Sound production, and I was blown away. Mr. Handsome went as a child, but this was my first time.
As part of our trip to Branson with Mr. Handsome’s extended family, we saw “Jesus: Live on Stage.” We went in two groups so we didn’t have to take the toddlers. I did, however, take Littlest Buddy and was able to watch while he slept in his stroller. The production was just wonderful. The acting was top notch, and the backdrops were larger-than-life. And of course the highlight was the perfectly trained live animals. I highly recommend that everyone attend.
Have you been to a Sight & Sound show?

No, and I don’t think I would. The founder of that company suddenly had to resign about 10 years ago due to “bad choices” he made that were inconsistent with the values of his organization. (That’s how it was explained at the time.) So no, not something I would support.

I’ve only been to little theaters. Maybe one day.

I just went two days ago. It was amazing! And I’ll go back again. I don’t know or care what Mr. Eschelman did. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how many people are experiencing God/Jesus Christ in a new light. God can usea ything for his glory.

No thankyou.

Honest question, how else would you watch a show; without sound? And is Jesus “on stage” really Christian? It sounds like a musical I.e. for profit, which is not something I associate with Jesus.
Ellie
Hi Thea,
That’s a good question…I’m not sure how they came up with the name. There are a lot of high costs associated with the production (maintaining the huge auditorium, hiring a big cast, training animals) so I don’t think it would be possible without charging money. It’s also a pretty long show, so you get what you pay for. It’s not really a musical though, more of a play. 🙂

We’ve been to it at least two times. All of the productions have been good. When we went to the Smoky Mountains in December we also went to a production at the Biblical Times Dinner Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. It wasn’t as glamorous as the one in Branson but the food was good and before the performance we had a Gospel music performances.

Yes I go every couple of years. I’ve seen everything they have done in the past 15 years. My daughter is a stage actor so this type of entertainment is something we not only enjoy but seek out

I’ve been to Sight and Sound 4 times. In May I went on a bus trip to Sight and Sound to see the production “David’. I thought it was amazing.

Do not negatively judge today’s production company because of Glenn Eshelman’s “choices” that occurred over ten years ago. It is under totally different leadership and reaching many people with great messages.

I am from Pennsylvania/New Jersey, so the original theater in Lancaster has always been within 2 hours from me, and going to see the latest show has become a favorite tradition. Since I was a little girl, I’ve seen live productions of Daniel, Joseph, Moses, the Psalms of David, Miracle of Christmas, Behold the Lamb, Jonah, Jesus, Samson, Esther, and David. Plus I’ve seen Ruth and Noah on DVD. Every show is amazing, and every time I go they have come up with some new special effect that leaves you saying “WOW!” I love how they try to tie in the Gospel message to every play, too. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but I think I would say my top ones so far are Esther, Ruth, Moses, and Jesus.

I’ve never been to one but I sounds interesting.

I’ve seen “Book of Mormon” on Broadway twice. Does that count?

We love watching the sight and sound theaters DVD’s but we have never been to one in person! It’s on my bucket list though! My favorite one so far is Noah! I’ve also watched
Esther
Ruth
Jonah
Noah
Have you just seen the Jesus one?
Ellie
I’ve only seen Jesus, but Mr. Handsome has seen Noah.

I have never been to Sight & Sound Theatres before, but I have all of their dvds. I’ve seen Ruth, Joseph, Jonah, Noah, Moses, Jesus, and Queen Esther. I am hoping on planning to go their in a few years. Have you seen Joseph? I’m telling you, the guy who played Joseph in 2010 when it first came out, not only does he do an awesome job acting, but also has an awesome voice and sings awesome. But I love them!!!

I have seen three productions, all of them magnificent as for the founders problems, it does not alter the effect these mass productions have I’m bringing gospel to some who would never have heard the word of God 00 all the productions are as close to biblical accuracy as anything can be in. I have no doubt God gave his vision to the elder man‘s to share with the world, always when you have someone doing the work of the lord the devil is always there to bring them down.in What was meant as evil God can use for his glory. Thank you, Glen and Shirley for following Gods direction. May your legacy remain until he returns.
