According to my husband, the most important part of a burrito is the meat. (Personally, I think it’s the guacamole.) We have decided that seasoned ground beef works best.
Homemade Chipotle Burritos Part 1: Seasoned Ground Beef
Ingredients
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 4 tsp dried oregano
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper
- 2 lb ground beef
Instructions
-
Mix the spices in a small bowl.
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the spice mixture with 2 pounds of raw ground beef.
-
Transfer to a skillet, and brown the meat.
Recipe Notes
If your meat is lean and doesn't release much grease, add a couple tablespoons of vegetable oil to prevent it from drying out. If the meat tastes bland to you, feel free to add more spices. The best part about making Chipotle burritos at home is that you can adjust the flavor to suit your taste buds.
To enhance the flavor of the meat (and make dinner preparation easier), I usually dump the meat and its grease into my crock pot and keep it on warm for an hour before serving.

Your Chipotle Burritos sound great! Thanks for sharing the recipe – my family leans toward Tex/Mex foods a lot. 🙂
What are things you and your husband do/try to do regularly to build each other up in your walks with the Lord? Do you have any projects or studies to suggest?
Blessings!

I recommend reading "Hiding in the Light" by Rifqa Bary. She was a Muslim girl who converted to Christianity and she shares her story. She still fears for her life because in her culture they kill anyone who converts to Christianity.
I was really encouraged in the Lord by her by her story. I'd recommend it to anyone!

This is really unrelated, but I've been wondering…I believe you've mentioned having one sibling? Is it a brother or sister? Are you older or younger than him/her?

Hi there,
I have one brother, and he is two years older than me.
Blessings,
Ellie

I liked that you gave your spice recipe here. I am a vegetarian but maybe this can be adapted to bean burritos. Also my son is not a vegetarian and he is going to want to try this. He would want to take these to work to heat and eat for his lunch. Thank you this is a nice idea.

I really like your cooking and recipe blogs. The meal planning philosophy is excellent. That is smart to forsee the tough times and do something proactive to manage them. Also doing some fast food or eat out food at home is a good plan for the taking back control from the fast paced restaurant strips that catch so many of us as an answer for our low points in life when they seem like they are the best thing going but somehow can leave us feeling guilty for taking the easy way out (again). How do we ever get in the driver seat rather than being led around by these leaders in planning and preparation? Thanks Ellie for guidance in getting into doing this for our selves l want to now!

Why can't we have a sister wives blog?

Ellie, maybe you could include a picture of these the next time you make them? I think that would be nice to see what the finished product looks like.
