Last Friday, Mr. Handsome informed me that he wished to get up early the following morning and head to the hardware store to buy supplies for my honey-do list. Needless to say, I was thrilled. I had a few errands of my own to do, so the kids and I decided to tag along.
When we woke up, I didn’t dawdle getting ready to go. My husband was excited to work on house projects, and I didn’t want to get in the way of that. But for some reason, he was stalling, and we didn’t leave the house until 9:30. As we drove down our street, he suddenly turned into one of our neighbor’s driveways, parked, and started getting the kids out.
Turns out, he had planned for them to babysit so he could take me on a surprise date. He had had to stall because he had given them an exact time when we would be over. When I asked him what he had in mind, he replied, “Just brunch and spending time together.” I told him, in a joking tone but still very serious, that I would still like to stop by the hardware store so he could get his supplies to complete the list. He laughed and agreed.
We only stayed out a couple hours, but it was lovely just spending quality time together. After the hardware store and brunch, he asked me if there was anything else I would like to do. I suggested shopping for baby girl clothes, and he obliged. So we spent 30 minutes picking out about five outfits that were all discounted. One of the outfits we chose is on the left in the photo above. The rest were mostly sleepers.
I was having the time of my life looking at all the adorable options. Mr. Handsome, being a man, wasn’t quite as into it as me, but he tried very hard to look excited. He also appreciated that I asked his opinions. Aside from a few quick stops at thrift stores, that was the first time I had browsed a full section of baby girl clothing. My minimalist tendencies will stop me from buying too much, but it sure was fun to pick out a few things.

Oh how fun! And that outfit is just adorable 🥹 doesn’t it just make you that much more excited?!! I literally would think about baby girl dresses for hours at night when I was expecting my first girl after three boys in my pregnancy insomnia 😆
I’ve been doing the same, buying mostly sleepers but a few cute little outfits have managed to sneak in there as well lol.
Will your family or friends throw you a little sprinkle or anything? That would be so fun!! I had one with my first girl and I got so many precious outfits that lasted even to the next girl.

I’m very excited! Although I also loved my boy clothes too. As I was going through them to get out the outfits that a girl could wear, I was loving all the little outfits with moose and bears. Are your babies still cooking and doing well?
JenniferH
Yes I would always say how I loved baby boy clothes too and I miss having a baby boy so much. I already hope if we have another that it’s a boy lol.
Babies are hanging out and still quite content in there. While I’m incredibly uncomfortable (to say the least 😆) I am hoping to have another few weeks before they arrive. I don’t want to go too early.
Ellie
I know how you feel…grateful that the baby/babies are doing well but very “done” being pregnant. Haha. Do you feel two times as uncomfortable as with singleton pregnancies?
JenniferH
Maybe- it’s hard to say. I don’t actually feel like I’m bigger (I mean the scale says otherwise lol) but I can hardly move these days and the exhaustion is pretty strong. I don’t remember it as bad with my other pregnancies 🤷🏼♀️
Ellie
I can imagine it’s hard to maneuver. Hang in there! It won’t be long 🙂

What is it with brown and gray for baby clothes these days?
Ellie
Im not sure. I’m more into colors, although it’s nice to have some variety.
Lolo
I know I thought the outfit on the left was ugly, and the one on the right was much cuter.

I think they’re both trying to look like adult pop-fashion for babies.

Everything is cream and beige and gray, from clothes to home furnishings. Photos of people’s rooms are so dreary and depressing! And babies wearing nothing but those colors, how sad. What happened to color? Not like the 70’s, but at least something other than beige beige beige.
CJ
I think the one you chose is adorable!

I loved Polly Flinder smocked dresses for my girls. Timeless classics.
